"It was random luck, sir. And a short time, yes." He replies, catching on that Corvus was losing interest in him. He felt very relieved at this.

"What issues does the base here have, in your opinion?"
He was not losing interest, though he had though the private had been here much longer.

"I don't listen to much to gossip, and I don't pay much attention to others. A Lunar spy was once rooted out, who was linched, and there had been a few fights -- but nothing too serious." He nods.
Cen actually knew everything that had happened here since the moment he had joined the base. He simply didn't wish to divulge this.

"Ah, so you are the type not alert to your surroundings." He turned his head to look the male over slowly as they walked.

Cen waled straight with his head held up high. He had a proud stand, one you typically wouldn't see in a Private, since they are the lowest rank.
"No, sir, I am aware, however I am not interested in personal squabble, and whatever isn't my business, sir." He states without blinking.

Alexander strolls past the two, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, fancy seeing you two again. Well, I shouldn't interrupt again, pay me no mind." He gives a salute and continues walking behind a nearby tent, out of sight but just close enough to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"I see. Then you are saying the camp here runs perfectly without any flaws whatsoever, aside from the petty personal matters of the people around you? Nothing at all can be improved or done to make it better? It is completely efficient and totally secure in every way?"
He walked tall as well, though it was out of professionalism and not pride.
Just then Alex passed by, making his fast remarks and saluting before either could say anything. Corvus saluted back quickly, and turned his head to watch Alex go behind the tent.

Cen stopped and gave a salute to Alex, before continuing to stay by Corvus.
"It's -- controversial. I believe minor infraction deserves hard punishment. Flogging, being locked in a giblet and displayed in public humiliation, even a good execution will set the soldiers in line." He explains, moving a casual hand and resting his other on the pommel of his sword.

"You should have joined the media corps, Private. You are great at dodging questions and giving long, meaningless responses that answer nothing."
He glanced to Cen, and said, "You have yet to say if you think there are any issues here in the camp. I do not like having to ask so many times."

The joke made him crack a small smile, however the following dialogue quickly straightened him out.
"I don't see many issues, sir. The guards work just fine at their duties, if not over-worked. I do feel that the night shifts are a bit -- overdone. The Boogyman won't come and snatch out intelligence in the night, sir. I'd focus my man-power out in the field." He responds quickly, as if he thought this out before.

"Is that all? Food quality is acceptable? We have enough sanitation facilities? Remember, a well functioning army requires more then armor and steel."
He looked around a bit as they walked, glad the soldier was finally being honest and open.

"Our steel is fine, and the sanitation stations are all top notch, sir. Much better than any other camp I've seen." He replies, keeping a hand rested on the pommel of his sword. The steel in the camp was somewhat below-par, in all truth, and there could be more sanitation facilities, but again, he didn't feel like divulging the information.

"You mentioned that you think discipline is lax and there are too many guards at night. Please elaborate on both parts."
The glowing praise of the camp made he feel the private was now only humoring him.

"I've heard stories of The Crystallian camps. They're strict, and their soldiers are known to regularly fight to the death in fear of punishment. I'm just saying -- punishment in this camp will instill more loyalty... and with all due respect, sir, this is a military camp. There isn't going to be any attacks, this isn't the front lines. We're deep in Solar terretory. I also believe the guards need more sleep. Both of these go against the idea of Night-guardsman. I say switch them over to day and keep the guards at night to a minimum." He explains thoughtfully, again, as if he has rehearsed these opinions several times.

He suddenly stopped, "Private Cen, you are wrong. A proper soldier always realizes that no place is safe from enemy activity and keeps vigilant watch at all hours. You said it yourself that this base had a spy. Also, unreasonable punishment breeds resentment and fear, not loyalty or devotion to the cause of duty. Military discipline is not the same as slave-driving."
He folds his hands behind him, it was example time, "Drop to the ground and begin push ups."
