Looking over to Alexander, Lieutenant Marcus gave a small smile and a stiff nod. He really just wanted to set his things in order and lay on a bunk... it's the simple things sometimes that put a mind at ease.
"Lieutenant Marcus. Pleasure to meet you, Alexander. Uh - likewise, Corthrow... gentleman." He says with a bow before walking over to his bunk and getting his stuff in the proper place.

"The pleasure is mine." He gives a quick nod before turning to exit the tent, sliding past the Guard entering.

Corvus nodded politely at Marcus and spoke, “Rest well, Lieutenant Marcus. I am bunked near you if you need anything. Thank you for joining Her Majesty’s armed services, I look forward to speaking with you later on.”
He then looks to Alexander who also was suddenly retreating. He did not know his name, but the white medical military fatigues displayed the man’s rank, and he said before Alex could slip away entirely, “Good night, First Lieutenant. The greeting was appreciated. Perhaps you will introduce yourself when next we meet.”
Lastly, he turns to Cen, and raises a brow upon hearing the soldier’s words. He straightens to attention and returns the salute properly, then waits for Cen to lower his arm before asking, “Private Cen, I have only just arrived. Who sent you to me with such orders?”

Cen lowers his hand and tucks both of them behind his back dutifully. His gem-encrusted sword showed that he was not only a soldier, but a member of the Holy Faith.
"The previous Captain did, sir." He responds, then stopping to look the other over.
"He instructed me to assist the replacement with his position upon arrival, sir." He hastily continues, assuming that Corvus was the new Captain.

He listened carefully, and held his armored hands at his sides, “Private Cen, the previous Captain was suddenly killed in a supposed freak rockslide. Did he foresee his demise and predict the need for replacement?”
Corvus did not wear the gold uniform of the regular army, but the royal blue and black of the Provost which was better known as the military police. However, he did display the rank of captain. His sword was not bejeweled, though it did have inlayed upon the hilt the Equestrian Knight’s Seal.

The Private remained stoic, however he moved his shoulders as if to shrug. He had a cold face, forgettable and unbiased.
"Any good captain would have planned ahead, sir!" He replies with energy, as if he were still in Bootcamp.
"Two enemies doubles the chances of death in the field, sir." He adds, keeping the energy, but being sure to convey the message.

“I am not the replacement, Private Cen. At ease. Captain Helmsut is assigned to the post. I am here only temporarily to assist with the transition of command and maintain order throughout the camp. Captain Helmsut is due to arrive within the week from the Capital.”
He now looked the soldier over a bit, “In what capacity were you attached to Captain Marcus?”

"I was assigned extra duty hours to him, sir." The guard replies quickly, looking nonplused. He stood tall and straight, like a hardened soldier.
"I moved papers, transported visitors, dulled out punishment, whatever Captain Marcus requested, sir. Nothing more."

"Ah."
He glanced over to his bunk and the large duffle bag he had set down, "Well, as I said Private Cen, I am not the replacement. Dismissed."

He puckered his lips together; displeased. Taking a bite out of the inside of his cheek, the soldier saluted and walked back out.

He saluted back and watched the over-eager soldier leave. Corvus would keep the man's name in mind.
For now though, he would spend some time unpacking his bag and making the simple bunk his home.

He unpacked and sorted his meager belongings out. It did not take long, his whole life fit into that duffle bag, and the bag was not close to full.
The tall male changed out of the armor and unto a simple cloth uniform. He slipped on black gloves and a garrison hat. The simple, clean uniform was very modest, displaying only his rank on the epaulettes and the Royal Provost emblem on his collar. He hung his sword from a black sash around his waist, and attached a single carrying pouch to the opposite side. That done, he left the barracks to head to the Base Security Office. There, he introduced himself to the on-duty Officer-Of-The-Watch and began his assessment of the security force's readiness.
Despite the new Captain's absence, Corvus elected to dutifully begin his assignment on his own accord. He studied the patrol rosters, glanced over the dossiers of the assigned security personnel, examined the base's mapped sentry positions, reviewed the more recent incident reports to get a feel for what was going on of late, and analyzed the armory's listed manifests. It would take the better part of the remainder of the day to finish, and several hours later, he would depart the command post, satisfied with the current status of the security situation. There was room for improvement, of course, but it was very adequate for the time being.
It was time to have a meal, and take a self-guided tour of the base grounds to get to know it. Also, there was nothing better to keep guards on the alert than an officer making random, unannounced inspections of their duty stations and posts.
[Exit Corvus]

[Enter Corvus]
Going straight to his bunk in the officer's quarters, Corvus retired for the day. He would lay in his bunk and read a book he had until the night fell.

After a night's rest, Corvus rose and put his full armor uniform on. He did so methodically, but with detectable boredom. The plates and straps were slipped into place as easily for him as one putting on a tshirt. He tightened down the straps and smoothed out the tunics before attaching his weapon/gear belts. He'd worn a uniform since he was of age, and the thrill of attaching the emblem of the Kingdom's authority was lost to him long ago. It was just a costume anymore.
He stepped into the administration offices and reviewed the orders of the day, supplied by the base's second-in-command acting as Captain. It was all routine and bland. He sighed, then went over the night's reports; nothing of significance.
He contemplated staying in the camp, or perhaps going into the city for the day. His assignment did not officially begin until the replacement captain arrived. The camp was at peace, and his presence was not terribly needed for the time being.
He left the command post to break his fast.

[Enter Corvus]
He did not like what he had done. He did not like accusing soldiers of crimes with so little evidence. Deep inside his heart, he wished he was wrong. He sort of liked Cen, who was a different but personable sort of soldier.
However, his duty was clear and demanded he not ignore the glaring obvious circumstances.
He returned the salutes of the uniformed men he passed by, and went into the administrative offices. There, be began a swift and detailed search into Montfort's records of Cen.
