Here at the Crystal Empire; we do things the RIGHT way! We fight with honor and ferocity. We are truly the best fighters, spies, and soldiers in the known world. Trained from experience and brutal training, The Crystal Empire's Legionaries fight until death, and fight savagely at that. Be proud you're one of them, and thankful you'll never have to face one.
Ranks in order:
Shadow Guard: Guards tasked with the noble goal to protect cities, towns, buildings, and the people of the Crystal Empire.
Tiro (Recruit): Recruits, just brought into the training camps. Hardly any armor, and shouldn't be seeing any battles.
Miles (Private): A fierce soldier, ready for the front lines. Commonly using a spear, lance, javelin, or a sword.
principes: An experienced Private, more of a respect thing. You have gone through, and survived, being at the head of at least 3 successful attacks You get a better shield and some feathers.
triarii: A veteran soldier. Once your Decanus has decided you have fought enough, you can go to his overseeing Centurion and get be ranked a Triarii. This includes a special helmet with more feathers and golden spear. Congratulations, legionary!
Discens (trainee): Those who see a career in the Legion become Discens, and train to become a more specialized soldier. No feathers, yet they bear more armor than a Tiro
Decanus: A leader of an 8-man group. Identifiable by his blue feathers and light armor.
Immunis: Any special soldier that is exempt from labor and regular duty; musicians, ballistics, doctors, etc. They are still expected to fight when need be. (No special armor)
K-9: You live by the dog, you die by the dog. You tame wild dogs and make them your companion. Your dog is more than a lover; your dog is part of your soul. You keep him by your side always, and train him to kill. Instead of feathers, they have an animal pelt atop their head.
Slave Master: You control the slaves at a camp, or in transit. Slaves are your responsibility. (Standard triarii, but with a red X across his chest-armor.)
Campidoctor: A drill instructor; training the new Tiro. Bronze chest-armor with a red cape. Commonly not battle armor, but to show power and rank.
Medicus: A doctor in the Legion. These men are unarmed, aside from a staff, and wear white robes. They must earn their right as a Medicus by making it red through experience.
Tribunus Legionis: A high ranking Officer. Compared to other nations, this would be a Knight. Very strong chest armor with capes and standard helms, but with special feathers. These men represent the best in The Crystal Empire, what every man should aspire to be.
Frumentarii: Spies that gather any information they are told to get. They are masters of disguise and known for their lies. Often they wear large bear-pelts when not in disguise.
Master of Frumentarii: The master of spies.
Praefectus Castrorum: The commander of any military camp. Often identifiable by his white feathers.
Optio: Every Centurion has an Optio: A personal aid. This man is identifiable by his brown and white feathers.
centurion: An officer, commonly in command of 100's of men. These men are commanders, not warriors. They are only permitted to carry a commanding stick.
Primus pilus: The commander of all Centurion's. This mans feathers are darker, and he wears much better armor. He is permitted a sword.
Tribunus laticlavius: The second command to a Legate. If the assigned Legate should die, the Tribunus shall overtake his role. He wears a bronze face-mask and lesser armor, but he is still deadly.
Legate: A General Officer that outranks any centurion and can take command of any camp if need be. You do not fuck with a Legate. They commonly are identifiable by their metal face-mask helmets and heavy armor. They often carry around Greatswords and sue them as well.
Legate legionis: The overseeing Legate, hand picked by King Sombra personally. This man is death itself, wielding a Greatsword made of black crystal, heavy heavy armor all around, and a mask that could take a baliste shot. Some say he isn't a man at all. He goes by the name Adeptus
King: The leader of the kingdom, and of the Legion. Even the Legate legionis couldn't stand a fight against the King. Long may he reign.
