The raiding party of twenty stood their ground patiently as the horseman ahead of them stopped waving his flag and slowly rose it above his head. With a swift motion the rider threw the flag into the dirt pole-first.
"Peace Crystal folk! We come not to raid, but to talk!" Yelled back the nomad in a noticeably foreign accent.
Upon further observation it seemed that the horseman had the audacity to wear a helmet of a Crystal Empire centurion, the feathers were missing from the top but it still was clearly the helmet of an officer. Behind him his fellow riders braced their bows in a position as to retaliate if things got ugly.

After a moment, the voice responds:
"Hold your ground there! One step closer and we'll end you!"

Either due to them listening to the order or just indifference towards the situation the party stood their ground and didn't move any further towards the base. This didn't make them any less suspicious however, being that around this time they'd usually be burning and destroying.
"We wish to negotiate a deal, Crystal folk! A deal that will benefit both of us!" Called the frontal horseman in a tone that seemed to be slightly impatient.

[Enter Josaline the Red, along with the soldiers of Camp Gusto] The heavy marching of soldiers and the low beating of war drums was ever present in the air. A long line of Triarii and Principes march out of the gate near the river in perfect formation, ready to meet the bandits head on. Forming a defensive shield wall, projectiles would find it nearly impossible to find their mark. Riding atop her black stallion, Josaline the Red breaks through the defensive line. Unlike before, the Legate was now wearing her traditional iron mask. Raising her fist, she signaled her men to wait for her signal.

The men stood and waited, the impenetrable wall of shields was laced with spears between every man, and behind that every man was ready with a javelin. All 8 Decanus stood behind the wall, wielding their own javelins. The Centurion stood next to Red's Tribunus laticlavius, who was not on horse, and watched Red behind his mask, arms crossed.

The nomads watched and seemed to show no signs of fear, shock, or surprise by the large turn out of soldiers from the fort. The lead horseman picked his white flag back from out of the ground at took the centurion helmet off his head, he then began to wave both the flag and the helmet above his head. "Peace! We wish to negotiate for steppe tribes!" He shouted to the formation of legionnaires. Behind him his raider comrades raised their swords and began banging their swords against their buckler sheilds, ready to retaliate to the sudden act of aggression. Their horses began to whiny and huff due to due the growing amount of boredom and tension growing inside them. The assumed leader still continued to wave his helmet and flag above him, trying to get a peaceful outcome from this.

[Enter Blackdawn] Blackdawn takes his position next the Centurion. "Rebels?" He questions, gripping his Kukuris.

Jeniza, Red's Tribunus laticlavius, her second in command glanced over to Blackdawn without a glimmer of interest.
"Boring Rebels." He mumbles through his mask, his eyes looking back to the line of men, all facing towards the rebels, ready to kill. "They want to cut a deal, I heard. Hopefully Red'll harden some of these Principes into Triarii. Sombra knows we need more."
He then stops and looks over at Blackdawn again, seeing that he isn't just another soldier. "You under Centurion Jazzaza?" He asks faintly.

Signalling for Jeniza and the Centurian to follow, the Red rode out to middle ground, wanting to meet this rebel leader herself. Behind her mask, Josaline looked stone cold. Emotionless.

The leader of the nomadic raiders stopped waving his helmet and put it back on, he then tossed down the white flag and braced his fist to his chest and gave a slight bow on his horse. His men still kept their swords drawn and some of them seemed to be restraining from charging into the legionnaires. Motioning to his men, the head raider began to talk.
"Do not be worried by my men, anxiety can control the most skilled riders...a rumor has spread...the Crystal folk are on the path to war with the Sun folk..."
He then tightened his reigns to his horse and strode slightly closer to Josaline, so much so that she could smell the stink of hay and horse emanating from his armor.
"We are willing to make a deal with your folk, you allow us passage from your land into the territory of the Sun folk and we will offer our services to you by degrading the armies of the Sun folk and no longer raiding your land..."
Without much of a warning he removed the centurion helmet he wore and tossed to the ground aside from Josaline's horse. His voice became somewhat stern and grim as he spoke up again.
"The man who bore this helmet was a bold, wise man...his only mistake was that he refused our services. I hope you won't make the wrong decision."

"Oop. Time to shine." Jeniza says, quickly mounting his horse and riding out with Red, standing next to her. He made it just in time to hear the end of his proposal. The Centurion didn't ride out with her.

"For the moment, yes." He says before The Tribunus rode off. He waits for Jazzaza to follow, seeing that he wasn't moving he turns to him. "Centurion Jazzaza?"

Behind her mask, Josaline's brow furrowed. If was made painfully clear that these brigands had killed a Centurion, and likely a swath of his men. As much as free barbarians would appeal to many commanders, threats were not something that the Red responded well to. These savages have attacked Crystal Legionnaires, a crime punishable only by death. Josaline needed to make it clear to this rabble that they cannot do as they please, then expect a job. Her blazing yellow eyes could be seen through her mask, as she made eye contact with the man.
"Tell me, do you know who I am?"

The head raider squinted and looked Josaline over, He even went as far as to bend around as to get a better view. He grunted and shrugged at the end of his observation and looked at Josaline rather impatiently.
"You're an officer who asks trivial questions and doesn't know an offer when they see one. Your title doesn't matter to me, I could care less about what your men call you."

"Jazazaa had an issue. I'm acting Centurion." The Centurion responds to Black. "And if all three of us went out there and died, the Legion at Camp Gusto would have no one to lead them. She dismissed the camp Leader." He complains, watching the interactions ahead.
Jeniza smirked behind his mask. "Your clan might not fully comprehend what you're speaking to. A Centurion is as helpless as a puppy; unarmed and unprotected. You're addressing Legate Red, marauder of the Crystal Empire, and slayer of thousands. We earn our titles and honor through blood." Jeniza explains proudly.
