Near the center of the Palace, looking South, King Sombra likes to spend time here thinking, planning, and watching. Or dangling someone off the edge. This area connects with his main chambers.

[Enter King Sombra]
Strutting out onto his balcony with a bottle of red Crystal Wine and a cup, His Magnificence: King Sombra pulled up a chair and sat in it with a loud sigh. He had on his simple leather armor on with some matching boots. He didn't feel like holding court today, or going out to greet his adoring Empire.
Instead, he sat in his chair, looked at his kingdom, and drank his wine happily. He has two weak empires sharing boarders with him, a thriving military, and all the Crystals any man can dream of. For The King; life was good.

Sombra's peace was interrupted by the Master of Frumentarii. The man wore a wolfs head atop his own with King Sombra's banner across his back. Lightly armored, and carrying a scroll in his hand, he approached Sombra with a bow.
"Give it." Sombra grunted, taking a deep sip of his wine and extending a hand. The Master of Frumentarii gave King Sombra the scroll, who unrolled it and read it over.
"Heh, good... good." He says to himself before setting the scroll down, dumping the rest of his wine on it, and setting it ablaze; destroying the letter. He stood up and stretched, cracking his back in several spots.
"I can't remember the last time I spoke with dear old Celestia..." He says aloud, chuckling and leaning over the balcony; watching his city turn.

[Enter Josaline the Red]
Josaline the Red had been interrogating an unfortunate prisoner before receiving the letter from King Sombra himself. As one of the King's Legates, Josaline was obligated to his beck and call, despite how much she wished to continue tormenting the prisoner. Outside of Sombra's chambers, his royal guard immediately recognized the Legate, both by rank and reputation.
The young Legate was wearing a tightly fitted maroon uniform, with gold trim and a red cape. Her hair was neatly tied back into a ponytail. On the surface, Josaline didn't look the part of a dangerous Legate, though in truth she was one of the most feared. A slightly sadistic grin etched upon her face when she saw King Sombra. Taking the knee and bowing before him, she looks up to him with her fiery eyes.
"My King."

King Sombra kept his back to her. He was still leaning over the railing; watching his kingdom. He let out a low hum, acknowledging her existence.
"The kingdom of Equestria has been The Crystal Empire's sole competition since its founding.... now it's weak... and what to we do with the weak." He asks in a bitter, serious tone, now even looking back at her. He seemed to be the farthest thing from happy.

A faint chuckle escapes the Red's lips at her kings words, as her sadistic smile only grows. Getting to her feet, the Legate brushes herself off slightly, before straightening her posture.
"We prey upon them. Just give the word my king."

"We don't prey we crush !" He snaps at her, quickly turning around and looking her over. He looked displeased, but not at her, at the world. He let out a huff and turned over to the railings again.
"Preying like an animal is smart, but it is slow, and requires time, time we don't have. We need to crush this halved Equestria; one half at a time, before one can get strength from the other. That's why I summoned you here, legate. I need you to take Centurion Cazzaza's force: 100 men, and capture something for me." He explains, waving a hand.
This signaled for the Master of Frumentarii to walk over and set down a map on the table.

The woman was not put off by the king's little outburst. In fact, her expression remained constant, her smile never faded. Biting her bottom lip slightly as her eyebrows furrowed, the Red itched for the chance to lead a force against a foreign enemy.
"Cazzaza's men will be put to good use. Paint me a target, and I will crush it under my heel."

King Sombra nudged his head to the side ever-so slightly. Reading the command, the Master of Frumentarii unrolled the map and put the wine cup on one end to keep it from rolling back up. It was a map of a military camp. In the top corner, the name: Montfort, could be seen. It was drawn by hand and had several red circles on it.
"I've had a man in the base for about a month." The Master of Frumentarii begins to explain. "He sketched out the base and all its weak points of defense. My Frumentarii will easily be able to infiltrate it, kill the sentries, and unlock the gates for your men. Anybody who tries to fly away must be shot down immediately, or el-"
"And I am asking digression in the bloodshed." King Sombra interrupts. "Try and keep any high-ranking soldiers alive. This is to show our strength, not conquer land. If things go smoothly, you and Cazzaza's men will walk out as if nothing happened."

Looking over the map and listening to the two men converse, the Legate merely chuckles to herself.
"Such a shame, I would have enjoyed killing the best the Solar Empire had to offer. Regardless, I will carry out your orders to the letter my king."

"These soldiers will hardly be the best." The Master of Frumentarii muses, scratching his face.
"Nevertheless, you will take, hold, and then hopefully release the fort. If things go south, however...." King Sombra stops and turns, looking furiously into her eyes.
"Slaughter them all." He commands in a ridged, cold tone. He pulls out a black crystal from seemingly nowhere and tosses it to Red.
"I can project myself, and my voice through that. I will give the command once I know what you are to do. Until then, just hold the base." He nods to the Master of Frumentarii, who rolls up the map and pockets it.
"Centurion Cazzaza and his men are all ready at Fort Gusto for your command. Go. And do NOT fail me." He states, signalling for them to leave with his hand. The Master of Frumentarii walks out.

"When have I ever failed you, my king?" A rhetorical question. The legate bows before her king, before heading for the exit. There was work to be done.

King Sombra waves a dismissive hand, turning around and leaning over his railings. He was waiting.

King Sombra inhaled deeply as he felt part of himself soar through the air and crash through a window. His face formed a grin and he leaped off the balcony.
"Here I come, Queenie~" He muses to himself before dissipating into a cloud of smoke; not even touching the ground.
[Exit King Sombra]
